Recreating Charleston: Contemporary Urban Design
Currently in production, Recreating Charleston takes a look at urban planning and aesthetic preservation with a focus on Charleston, South Carolina as the city attempts to protect its rich historical presence while adapting to area development and expansion.
 
Grass Roots: The Enduring Art of the Lowcountry Basket
This documentary film will be part of a traveling museum exhibition called Grass Roots: Baskets of Two Continents, scheduled to open August 2008 at the Gibbes Museum of Art, Charleston, SC, before moving on to New York in 2009. The project is a joint venture of the Museum for African Art (MAA) in New York and the Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture at the College of Charleston.

Cuban Confederates in Carolina
This documentary film about Cuban Confederates is currently in production. Our research advisors for this project include the field's foremost experts on this lesser known aspect of the Civil War. Filming has commenced in Cuba and South Carolina.
 

For Every Person There Is A Name
Winner - Southeastern Regional Emmy Award
Three Holocaust survivors who now reside in the Carolina Lowcountry share their stories of loss and ultimate survival. Their interviews are interwoven with archival footage and rare photos.

Saint of the Zuiderzee
Winner - Best Dramatic Short - 2007 Staten Island Film Festival

Official Selection 2008 Charleston International Film Festival
Official Selection 2008 Brooklyn Arts Council International Film Festival

This 30 minute fictional short won First Place for Best Dramatic Short at the Staten Island Film Festival, 2007; an Emmy Award for Lighting (awarded to Bob Bushfield); and First Place in the short screenplay category at the Slamdance Screenplay Competition. The film was an official selection of the 2007 Garden State Film Festival, and was broadcast on South Carolina ETV.

Based on an award-winning original short story, Saint of the Zuiderzee tells the story of a young girl struggling with a fragmenting family. Filmed on location at the Fresh Kills landfill and other locations in Staten Island, New York.
